I am Caroline Blais aka Chocobetterave aka VJ Chocobeets aka Caroline Beets.
Nowadays I'm mostly involved in VJing (mixing videos live) and short films, but I also have some web and print projects. You can find me VJing at Pecha Kucha, selling stuff at Expozine, showing movies at M60, being Very Awesome on the web, drinking coffee all over the place. I graduated from Concordia University with a major in Design Art in 2008, and I'm back in Montreal after studying a year at Lapland University in Finland.

VJ CHOCOBEETS
I started to mix videos in my Finnish life back in 2008, and now am resident VJ for the Pecha Kucha event at Society for Arts and Technology in Montreal.
VERY AWESOME
VERY AWESOME is the name Caroline Blais and Josianne Poirier use for their collaborative projects. These projects are displayed on their webzine, which is a space for experimentation with a variety of mediums, preferably those used in elementary school. Adopting a manifesto like structure, VERY AWESOME is the container that contains the content. Nothing is said but everything is shown, as the purpose is to make and to show what has been made. With this absence of litterature, the editorial challenge is to create for every new edition something awesome with ordinary elements.
Pizza-Ghetti is a video collective formed by Caroline Blais and Elisabeth Tremblay. Not unlike the typical quebecker meal, Pizza-Ghetti team does not make any compromise, is delicious and can make you sick if you have too much of it.
Uimakirja is a book I made together with Marjukka Parkkinen. It's a phrase book about swimming in finnish, with the translation in english below. The words emerge from the combination of my (limited) finnish vocabulary with the word swim. The aim was to reuse the large swimming pool prints Marjukka made for a project, since photo paper can't be recycled. This makes a limited edition of 50 books, with all different covers
I get inspired by people, objects, products, buildings, music, old science books, concepts, and this blog is an attempt to record that inspiration and share it with others.
